The extraordinary efforts here during World War II earned the yard the nickname of “Can-Do Shipyard.” Today, residents don’t inhabit this yard but workers still congregate in this warehoused area where — like many factories in Brooklyn — a number of the buildings have been repurposed for artistic endeavors and new shops. Still, this busy hub remains active with sightseers, shoppers, and workers of all stripes.
